Limited-Use Public Water Systems
Drinking water supplied by a large central well such as in a city is regulated by the Department of Environmental Protection. Or if you have your own well and it serves a private
residence this is considered a private well and is not regulated. Then there are commercial and residential type limited use public water systems that serve rental residences and businesses when central water supply is not available. These wells are permitted and inspected regularly and require quarterly bacterial testing and scheduled lead and nitrate testing.
