Environmental Health - Healthy Beaches Program

Water samples are collected weekly by the Alachua County Health Department from Cedar Key Beach and are analyzed for enterococci and fecal coliform bacteria. High concentrations for these bacteria may indicate the presence of microorganisms that could cause disease, infections, or rashes. Environmental Health is responsible for issuing health advisories or warnings when these conditions are confirmed.  All sample results are posted on the Florida Healthy Beaches Program website weekly. Any advisories are posted at the Park/Beach entrance.
