Surveillance Services
Clinical Services are provided at the Manatee
County Health Department in Clinic #8.
Clinical
Services Include:
Physician Services
-
Diagnosis and treatment of active tuberculosis
patients
-
Diagnosis and treatment of patients with latent
tuberculosis infection
Nursing Services
-
Case Management of all active tuberculosis cases
-
Provide Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) to
active tuberculosis cases and in special situations to patients with latent
tuberculosis infection.
-
Patient care of active tuberculosis cases and
suspects
-
Provide monitoring and medication to patients
with latent tuberculosis infection
-
Provide targeted tuberculin skin testing
-
Provide tuberculosis education
-
Provide certified tuberculosis skin testing
training to health care professionals
Laboratory Services
-
Obtain sputum samples and samples from other
body fluids for tuberculosis testing
-
Obtain laboratory testing to monitor patients on
tuberculosis medication
Outreach Services Include:
-
Contact investigations
-
Provide DOT and directly observed preventative
therapy (DOPT)
-
Provide targeted tuberculin skin testing in the
field in special situations
-
Provide tuberculosis education
-
Institutional liaison (shelters, correctional
institutions)
Surveillance Services Include:
-
Follow-up on all reports of TB cases and
suspects from public and private facilities and individuals
-
Reports all tuberculosis cases to the state
Bureau of TB and Refugee Health
-
Follow-up on all reported Class A, B1 and B2
immigrants to ensure proper follow-up and treatment
-
Maintain demographic and epidemiological data
for statistical purposes
