Seasonal Flu Shots

The Marion County Health Department has flu vaccine available for citizens on a walk-in basis.

The flu vaccine is available at the Immunizations clinic at the health department's main facility in Ocala and can be obtained from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday trough Friday. Citizens outside of the Ocala area can obtain the vaccine at either the Belleview or Reddick Health Clinic.

The cost for flu vaccine is $26 and $50 for pneumonia vaccine.

Participants that have Medicare Part B will receive the vaccine at no cost.

Children 18 and under may be eligible to receive flu vaccine free through the vaccine for children program.

This year's seasonal flu vaccine covers 3 types of flu including the H1N1 virus.

The flu season generally begins in October and lasts until May.

Influenza seasons are unpredictable and the flu virus affects individuals differently depending on age and health status, but generally 3,000 to 49,000 Americans die annually because of flu or flu related symptoms.

For more information, contact the Immunizations clinic at 352-629-0137 Ext. 2017 or 2018.
