Abstinence - BRAZEN BRAZEN, is the Marion County Health Department abstinence education program. Our message educates Marion County teens about the risks and consequences of having sex outside a committed marital relationship. BRAZEN not only offers its curricula in each of Marion County high schools, but, it maintains a strong community presence, by offering instruction to at-risk teens and supporting local teen/parent programs (such as YMCA Black Achievers and Strength of the Young). BRAZEN curriculum is presented in a straightforward and upbeat manner. Our instructors combine a relaxed and fun learning environment, with factual and scientifically accurate presentations. There are also opportunities for parental/significant adult involvement through BRAZEN Lunch and Learn Program. Our program also offers "peer" instruction. BRAZEN is unique, in that, it offers Marion County teens the chance to talk about sexual abstinence with other young people. Teen and College Peer Leaders offer first hand experience and strategies, to help Marion County teens make positive life choices related to sexual activity. For more information about our program, or, to book a presentation, please contact us at 352-629-0137 Ext 2005 or 2195. |
