Services:

Tuberculosis (TB):

Video Interview and Statement on Tuberculosis in Duval County
Watch this video and read this statement, both from the Florida Department of Health's Deputy
Secretary for Health Dr. Steven Harris, on tuberculosis in Duval County.

  • TB testing (P.P.D) for known contacts

  • Follow up Chest X-Rays for clients with positive tuberculin skin tests

  • Provision of Medications for Clients with TB

  • Preventive therapy (medication) for clients exposed to TB

  • Directly observed therapy; Directly observed Preventive Therapy

  • Case management

  • Contact identification and notification

  • Community Education

Eligibility:

  • Positive P.P.D. or exposure to TB client

  • Referral from practitioner for active or suspect TB case

Hepatitis:

  • Case reporting; contact follow up

  • Immunization - high risk clients or contacts

  • Hepatitis Prevention Program: Hepatitis testing, hepatitis A and B vaccines to adults at risk and information on hepatitis.

Epidemiology:

  • Receives reports of "reportable Diseases/Conditions in Florida as mandated in Florida statutes

  • Investigation of Reported communicable Diseases/Conditions e.g., (measles, mumps, diphtheria ...) and testing of contacts

  • Investigation of Reported diarrhea diseases; e.g. (Salmonella, Shigella,Campylobacter, Giardia) food borne, parasitic and bacterial

    • Stool sample testing

    • Community education

Rash Room

  • Screen rash like illness for communicability

Rabies program

  • Community education

  • Administration of vaccine to clients exposed to rabid animal or potentially rabid animal

  • Administration of Pre-Rabies Vaccine to at risk population

Referral:

  • Healthcare provider, facility (Hospital, Clinic, Practitioner), Self

Fees:

  • Depends On Service

  • When Applicable, sliding scale fee for clients above 100% of federal poverty guidelines - Medicaid

  • Cost of vaccine and administration for Pre-Rabies Vaccine

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Please call ahead because appointments are required for some of the services.
