SERVICES AT THE OKALOOSA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT |

Breast & Cervical Screenings |
Mammograms & pap smears
are performed in coordination with the Florida Breast & Cervical
Cancer Early Prevention Program (FBCCP). Women who are 50-64
years of age, who have little or no health insurance, and who meet
income guidelines are eligible for this program. |

Dental |
Dental services are
available at our Crestview facility for children who are on
Medicaid. |

Disease Surveillance |
We monitor & investigate
disease trends and outbreaks in the community. |

Emergency
Preparedness |
We help our staff & our
community prepare and respond during health and medical emergencies. |

Environmental Health |
We monitor environmental
conditions that could pose a threat to the health & safety of the
public. |

Family Planning |
We provide education,
counseling, medical services, and referrals to help people plan
their family's size. |

Healthy Beaches |
Environmental specialists test the
waters of several Okaloosa County Beaches. Depending on the
bacteria levels, a swimming advisory may be issued. Posted
signs are used to advise the community and tourists. |

Healthy Start |
We provide maternal &
child health services to improve pregnancy outcomes and help infants
& toddlers get a healthy start in life. |

Immunizations |
Immunizations can protect
your child, your family, your friends & their families, and our
community. We offer a number of vaccines to children. |

One Problem Clinic |
When you need a doctor,
but not an emergency room, we welcome appointments & walk-ins to
people with minor injuries & illnesses. |

Opportunity Health |
We offer comprehensive
primary care to residents who meet income & eligibility guidelines. |
|
Rabies
Control |
If an animal bite is from
a dog, cat, or ferret, our Environmental Health staff is responsible
for attempting to locate the animal, and making sure it is kept in
observation. |

Ryan White |
We provide a confidential
medical home (medication assistance, managed care, and referrals) to
people living with HIV. |
|
School Health |
We partner with the
Okaloosa County School District to act as a resource, assist with
immunization compliance, and ensure school health services are
provided in accordance with Florida Statute. |

Septic Systems |
As part of our
Environmental Health duties, our team issues permits for new,
repaired, modified, and abandoned septic systems. We also
evaluate existing system for compliance with local and state laws
and ordinances. |

STD Testing & Treatment |
We provide information,
counseling for disease prevention, and confidential diagnosis &
treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). |

Vital Statistics |
Florida birth & death
records can be purchased through our Fort Walton Beach office. |
|
WIC |
WIC is a federally-funded
nutrition program that serves low- & moderate-income pregnant,
breastfeeding, and postpartum women -- as well as infants & children
under age 5. |
