Environmental Health Division

The Environmental Health Division of the Health Department provides public health protection services that are related to the environment.  This division is responsible for the issuance of Septic Tank permits following rules given to us by the Department of Health in Tallahassee.  We also issue state operating permits for: Mobile Home Parks, Migrant Labor Camps, Tanning Facilities and Limited Use water systems that are not covered by the Department of Environmental Protection.  We perform the inspection and monitoring of pollutant storage tank facilities in Okeechobee and Highlands counties under a contract with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  More details about these programs will be provided in the near future, we will also link in access to online forms and permitting as soon as these functions are made available.
