Health Promotion
At the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County (FDOH-SRC), we collaborate with a variety of agencies and organizations to offer physical activity and nutrition promotion to children in the community. Following are several examples of recent program partnerships benefiting school age children.
Obesity Toolkit
Our Obesity Toolkit was developed to provide the parents and children of our community with simple tools to help them understand weight-related health issues and offer suggestions to bring them into a healthier, more active lifestyle. Please visit our Obesity Toolkit page for more information.
Health
Fairs
The FDOH-SRC participates in a number of health fairs each year to provide information on public health services provided by the department. To request the health department's participation in an upcoming health fair or event, or for more information about these and other physical activity and nutrition promotion efforts in Santa Rosa County, please call 983-5200.
Growing Hope Against Hunger
Sesame Street has created Growing Hope Against Hunger which raises awareness of the widespread issue of hunger in the United States and its impact on children. It provides simple, empowering strategies to families who aren't sure where their next meal will come from - and to others who want to help.
Please visit WSRE's website for ideas, recipes, stories for children, and more.
You can also visit SesameStreet.org with your children to watch videos and play games related to healthy eating on a budget.
