Is it a Cold or the Flu?

Many folks in our community have been feeling "under the weather" lately. But is it a cold or the flu? Here is a list of symptoms for both. Check out the differences and similarities. See your doctor if you believe you have the flu. And don't forget - wash your hands, cover your cough and stay home when you are sick!

Headache Rare Prominent
General aches & pains Slight Usual; often severe

Chest discomfort, cough Mild to moderate; hacking cough Common; can become severe

Prevention None Annual vaccination; Symmetrel, Flumadine, or Tamiflu (antiviral drugs)

Flu Shots

The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County is now offering flu vaccines for adults and children. Vaccines are free for children 18 years old and under through the Vaccines for Children program.

Adult flu shots are $20. Cash, credit cards, and checks are accepted. We are able to bill Medicare Part B if the patient does not have a Medicare supplement.
