Walk to Wellness is a fitness program designed for the inactive or moderately active individuals who would like to improve their health through regular physical activity. The program includes an initial health screening, height, weight, BP and BMI - information about the healthful affects of walking, nutrition and diet information, warm up exercises, a daily walking log, a pedometer and a water bottle.
The program is very flexible and can be adapted to anyone's schedule. Only the first and last sessions require participants to meet as a group in order to do the health screenings. Individuals will walk daily and will increase their walking times from 15 minutes a day the first week to 30 minutes a day the sixth week. At the end of the sixth week, weight, BP and BMI will be recorded and compared to the readings taken the first day.
It is hoped that this program, although brief, will provide positive feedback regarding the healthful affects of physical activity and will instill the walking habit in individuals. For information call (352) 793-2701. |
