IMPROVED PREGNANCY OUTCOME

The Taylor County Health Department has had an OB program since October 1997. We partner with the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Family Practice Residency Program to provide prenatal and postpartum care to our clients. Dr. Lisa Jernigan and Ms. Debbie Pederson, ARNP and Taylor CHD ARNP, Brenda Newman, provide these services with the assistance of Taylor County Health Department nurses. Infants are delivered at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

Our staff assists clients to obtain Medicaid enrollment, smoking cessation counseling, transportation, parenting and psychosocial counseling.

FAMILY PLANNING

Family Planning serves all women of childbearing age with pregnancy prevention, well woman care, counseling for pregnancy spacing and problem visits. These services are provided by Brenda Newman, ARNP. Sterilization services are available under Federal Guidelines with referrals to Miles V. Nelson, MD, for procedures for both males and females. Women with abnormal pap smears are referred to the Tallahassee HealthCare Family Practice Residency for further evaluation if needed as a part of our partnership with the residency. Dental Services

Smiles R Us Dental Clinic at the Taylor County Health Department services children between the ages of 1 and 20 years old. Services include exams, x-rays, cleanings, sealants, fillings, extractions, fluoride treatments and oral hygiene instruction. If you are a client of the TCHD and pregnant a free cleaning is provided regardless of age. We accept Medicaid and offer a sliding fee scale for those patients who qualify.
