HOW CAN H1N1 FLU BE
PREVENTED?
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
If you don't have tissue, cough or sneeze into your sleeve, not your hands.
It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
Clean your hands. Wash your hands often. Wash for 20
seconds using warm water and soap. This will help protect you and others
against germs.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. This will reduce the
risk of germs entering your body if you come in contact with something that is
contaminated.
Practice good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, be physically
active, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious foods.
Avoid smoking, which may increase the risk of serious illness if you do contract
the flu.
Avoid close contact. Avoid close contact with people who are
sick. If you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from
getting sick, too.
Stay home when you are sick or have H1N1 flu symptoms. Get
plenty of rest and check with your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
Follow public health instructions. Seriously consider advice
regarding school or other closings, avoiding crowds or follow other social
distancing measures.
