Wakulla Tobacco Prevention Program

The Wakulla County Health Department (CHD) has received funding to aid in the fight against youth tobacco. With this funding, the Wakulla CHD hired Tonya Hobby, a full time tobacco program specialist.  Tonya is in charge of coordinating the community partnerships to reduce Tobacco disparities in Wakulla; Tonya oversees local tobacco prevention and control projects, activities and programs. She will engage local community leaders, faith based organizations, school officials, providers, and local vendors to establish a relationship and promote the benefits of cessation programs, as well as the benefits to the community.  The major objectives of these partnerships will be to:
  • Reduce tobacco use initiation, particularly among youth
  • Increase smoking cessation
  • Reduce secondhand smoke exposure
  • Increase community awareness of Tobacco issues

We offer smoking cessation classes.  Please visit our
