Happy 2012!! The
Bradford County Health Department is pleased to provide information and services
to the residents and visitors to our county. Bradford County is centrally
located in North Florida. Close to metropolitan areas but still rural and
friendly. The health department is a health care leader and working to increase
the development of health care services throughout the county.
Our primary care
physician, Dr. Eugene Usow, is a board certified family practice physician who
provides care to children and adults. Dr. Usow graduated from Nova
Southeastern University and has worked in private practice as well as at a
community health clinic.
We are proud to provide
primary care services five days a week with access to family planning, women’s
health and specialty services. Our services include health education services
provided by registered nurses to include diabetes education, cardiovascular
health and hypertension education among many other topics.
Community health
education is provided through civic organizations, faith based groups and
outreach events throughout the county. Our goal is to help the people in
Bradford County make healthy lifestyle choices.
The school health teams
works closely with school staff as well as community organizations to provide
health screenings, referrals for services, assistance with health issues and
classroom teaching to help our youth continue to achieve the optimum health.
The nurses evaluate the immunization status of the youth to ensure all
requirements are met for school entry and ongoing immunizations recommended.
The school health team goes the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of
our children. A recent addition to the team is the Teen Outreach Program which
provides education and community service opportunities for ninth grade students
to help them be more successful and recognize their potential.
The Healthy Start
programs helps pregnant women and new parents with a wide range of FREE services
including childbirth education, smoking cessation, Mom’s meetings, breastfeeding
and linkages to other services. A new addition to the program is the Parents As
Teachers program which helps parents ensure that their child is successful. We
are very excited about this evidence based program that has proven to make a
difference in the lives of the children and parents utilizing this program.
Environmental Health
ensures that all new and established residents are in compliance with the
requirements of Florida law to help maintain our beautiful environment in
Bradford County with properly installed septic tanks, safe drinking water and
appropriate facilities for the provision of food services in schools, prisons
and other locales.
We are so proud to
serve the people in Bradford County! We welcome your input and suggestions. If
you have any questions, concerns or issues, please contact me directly at
