Child Health

Well Baby, Well Child & Sick Visits

Childhood is a critical period of growth and development and requires special health care.  Well baby and well child health includes periodic physical examinations to evaluate for proper growth, screening for blood lead, vision, hearing, motor skills, and special needs are assessed.  Immunization status is also determined.

Childhood Immunizations

It is essential that immunizations be administered on schedule to ensure that children are protected from vaccine preventable childhood diseases.  Immunizations are very effective in preventing Measles, Mumps, Diptheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, Rubella, Pertussis (whooping cough), and Polio.  Required immunizations are available to all children up through age 18.  In addition, Florida law requires all children be immunized before attending daycare or school.  All immunization records are reviewed by a school nurse prior to children entering school.

School Health

The Bradford County Health Department employs 3 Registered  Nurses and 3 school health aids to assist children in Bradford County Public Schools.  Please see our school health section of this website for more information.
