Immunizations

Vaccines to prevent serious and/or deadly diseases are one of the great successes of the 20th century.  Vaccine-preventable diseases are at the lowest levels ever.

Children begin receiving vaccinations at about 2 months of age.  By time they are 2 years old, they should have received a series of immunizations protecting them against a variety of disease, which include Polio, Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough), Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (chicken pox) and Haemophilus (HIB).

The timing and spacing of vaccinations is important and, when given correctly they increase the effectiveness.

The Bradford County Health Department provides vaccines for children and adults.  You are encouraged to call (904) 964-7732 to schedule an appointment.  Children through the age of 18 are covered under the federal program of vaccines for children, so there is no cost for required immunizations.
