Family Preparedness

Prepare
Use the "Four Steps to Safety" guide to improve your family's preparedness plan.
Protect
Determine the best scape routes out of your home and find the safest spot within your home. An interior room or closet with no windows is your best safe spot.
Prepare
Keep you and your family safer and insist everyone learn to swim well. Prepare how you would respond to an emergency and get training in basic water rescue skills, first aid and CPR. Have rescue equipment and a phone by the pool.
Protect
Supervise and never take your eyes off children in and around water. Use barriers such as fences, self-closing/ self-latching gates and secured doors with alarms. This can prevent young children from wandering into the pool. Also check for broken or missing drain covers.
