Drowning can be a silent catastrophe, one that can happen in the few minutes you take to answer a phone call or run inside for a towel. Florida leads the country in drowning deaths of children ages 1-4. Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in Collier County.

Tobacco Cessation Programs

The Tobacco Free Collier Partnership provides help and support to quit tobacco product consumption. Three types of tobacco cessation programs are available:
Area Health Education Center Quit Smoking Now Classes: 6 week smoking
cessation class, 1 hour per week, convenient locations, group counseling, and
free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) in the form of patches, gum
or lozenges. Times, dates and locations availablehere. To register for these
classes or for more information please call 877.819.2357.
Florida Quitline: toll-free telephone based tobacco use cessation resource
available at 877.822.6669. Five proactive counseling sessions, self-help
materials, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Counseling available in
English, Spanish and Haitian-Creole. Translation services for hearing-
impaired. More information in English or Spanish is available.
Florida Quitline Web Counseling: access to a Web Coach, an online learning
and support community featuring stage-based information, interactive lessons
and exercises and tracking tools to assist in quitting. All you need to do
is register with a valid e-mail address.
