| Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening - Mammograms & pap smears are performed in coordination with the Florida Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Prevention Program (FBCCP). Women who are 50-64 years of age, who have little or no health insurance, and who meet income guidelines are eligible for this program. Florida Department of Health in Sumter County also provides cervical screenings and clinical breast exams for a fee to women who do not qualify for FBCCP if they are uninsured. | Healthy Start - is a statewide program that can helps families have a healthy pregnancy and baby. All pregnant women (and infants up to age 3) are eligible to receive the FREE Healthy Start services regardless of their marital, economic or immigration status. | Family Planning - We provide education, counseling, medical services, referrals, and follow-up visits that will help men and women plan their family size. We offer a variety of methods of birth control. All methods of birth control are available to any person of childbearing age, including teens. Birth control methods include natural family planning, male and female condoms, diaphragm, birth control pills, intra-uterine devices (IUD) and Depo Provera injection. Confidential pregnancy testing and emergency contraception are available at both clinic locations. Pregnancy Testing - Appointments to assess for possible pregnancy is available for women who are at least 2 weeks past their expected date of menses. If your test is positive, you will receive counseling about healthy choices for you and your baby. If your test is negative you will receive counseling on family planning options. Women between the ages of 15-26 are offered testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections (Chlamydia and Gonorrhea) as recommended by Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Any person residing in Sumter County who is HIV positive may apply for services. It's not necessary to have a physician referral. Call patient care programs toll free at 1-866-901-9646. |

| One of the main causes for new mothers to give up breastfeeding is lack of support. In the past, women grew up watching their mothers, aunts and friends breastfeed. They felt comfortable with it and learned from watching and talking with them. Florida Department of Health in Sumter County has nurses certified in lactation counseling and wants to improve breastfeeding experiences for our mothers. Main reasons why women stop breastfeeding before they had planned: - Latching problems in the first week - Worried they don't have enough milk or it is not good enough - Early feeding difficulties - Lack of support or proper information We will help new mothers and help them feel more comfortable during those first few weeks. TIPS we teach for successful breastfeeding: - How to hold your baby - How to latch properly - Signs of when and how much to feed - Working and pumping tips - Safely storing breast milk - Nutrition and breastfeeding - Dealing with breast and nipple issues |

| Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) - We provide information, counseling for disease prevention, and confidential diagnosis & treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Evaluation for possible sexually transmitted infections are available to clients at high risk. Reduced fees are available for those below federal poverty guidelines with income verification. The hepatitis prevention program serves adults 18 years of age and older and high risk for hepatitis. Hepatitis testing (A, B, & C) are available at no charge. | Tuberculosis (TB) Testing is available to anyone. Contact investigations are also provided. Treatment for positive testing and case management is provided to county residents. TB is spread from person to person through the air. People can breathe in these bacteria and become infected.
