Walton County Health Department collects beach water samples along the Coast of Walton County to monitor the quality of the beach water.  Weekly beach water samples are collected from the gulf at seven (7) locations from March 1 to November 1.  These samples are analyzed for enterococci bacteria.  High concentrations of these bacteria may indicate the presence of microorganisms that could cause disease, infections, or rashes.
