information is critical for understanding and successfully developing
programs that align with Public Health Emergency Preparedness target
capabilities and strategies to advance all-hazards preparedness.
2012 Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise (PHEMCE)
Strategy - US Department of Health and human Services (HHS) document
that supports national health security by articulating the strategic
direction for federal efforts to protect the nation from health security
threats through the use of medical countermeasures. Released June 22, 2012.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - Cities Readiness
Initiative Homepage
CDC Public Health workbook to Define, locate, and Reach Special, Vulnerable,
and At-risk Populations in an Emergency - Describes a process to help
planners develop a Community Outreach Information Network. Includes tools for
inclusive communication planning.
CDC Password Protected Site - Resources and information to help
states meet the Federal Target Capabilities. CRI community planners should
contact their BPR liaison for information on access to the site.
CDC - Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) - Webpage with information
and resources on the SNS. Note resource under "related information."
FDA Medical Countermeasures Initiative Strategic Plan 2012-2016 - The
document sets the strategic goals and key objectives the US Food and Drug
Administration will pursue to build and sustain the programs needed to
achieve the Medical Countermeasures Initiative mission.
National Association of County and City Health Officials Advance Practice
Centers (APC) - The APC website provides free public health
preparedness resources from public health departments that can be adapted and
implemented by other local health departments.
National Institutes of Health Strategic Plan and Research Agenda for Medical
Countermeasures against Radiological and Nuclear Threats Progress Report
- June 2012 report on continuing research goals and future research
directions.
Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP) - US
Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) webpage that provides information
as well as questions and answers about the PREP Act which authorizes the
Secretary of HHS to issue a declaration to alleviate concerns about liability
related to the manufacture, testing, development, distribution,
administration and use of countermeasures against chemical, biological,
radiological and nuclear agents of terrorism, epidemics, and pandemics.

information that CRI Coordinators can use when working with new businesses
for the closed POD program.
