Disaster Behavioral Health Needs of Persons with Mental Health and Substance Abuse Considerations

This webcast aims to encourage planners and emergency response personnel to engage advocates and individuals with mental health disorders in the planning process and identify planning considerations involving persons with mental health disorders in their community. The objectives for participants include identifying unique disaster behavioral health needs of persons with mental health and substance abuse considerations, providing tips/tools for addressing those needs; outlining current efforts towards emergency preparedness programs for persons with mental health disorders; and recognizing the needs of persons with mental health disorders in an emergency situation.

Children's Preparedness - National Guidance and Resources for Addressing the Unique Needs of Children

This webinar focuses on the current national efforts for children's preparedness and offers a case study. Participants will learn to recognize the needs of children and youth in emergencies, outline the current national efforts towards emergency preparedness programs for children and youth; gain the ability to locate resources addressing children's preparedness; and facilitate what health care professionals and emergency responders can do to participate in community preparedness.
