Hazards

Preparedness and response requires the department to prepare for many types of hazards. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classifies hazards into several categories: Biological, Chemical, Radiation, Mass Casualties, and Natural Disasters and Severe Weather.

• Deepwater Horizon website is the primary location for updates and information on response actions, impacts and recovery efforts in the state of Florida.



• FEMA Disasters and Hazards Information website lists information on disasters and maps.



• Hazards Preparedness has preparedness information for families, information on making a disaster preparedness kit, safety tips for home cleanup and repair, and many other topics.



• Hurricane website has information on how to prepare you and your family before, during and after a storm.
