New Information


The following four forms are provided here as a service to assist body-piercing salons in complying with the record-keeping requirements of Chapter 64E-19, Florida Administrative Code. Use of these specific forms is voluntary and is not required by the Department of Health. If you prefer to continue to use your present forms, please do so.

According to the company that manufactures it, Tygon Brand tubing (16kb PDF link opens in new window) is not labeled as acceptable for body piercing of any type. Therefore, Tygon Brand tubing (16kb PDF link opens in new window) should not be used as jewelry by Florida's licensed body piercing salons.

On the indicated dates, the following procedures were determined by the Board of Medicine to constitute the practice of medicine. These procedures, if carried out by a body piercer, would be considered by the Board of Medicine to constitute unlicensed activity, enforceable in accordance with section 456.065, Florida Statutes. In June, 2005, the Board of Medicine's Quality Assurance Committee recommended that these determinations be ratified by the Board of Medicine. This ratification was approved at the July meeting of the entire Board of Medicine.

Tongue Splitting (in any manner) - May 2, 2002
Labia Reduction - May 2, 2002
Dermal Punching - October 5, 2002
