About our Programs

  • Biomedical Waste
    Prevents the spread of blood borne pathogens by ensuring the proper onsite handling and packaging of biomedical waste.
  • Black Henna
    Information on the risks associated with getting a "temporary black henna tattoo", including permanent scaring of the skin.
  • Body Piercing
    Prevents the spread of blood borne pathogens through prescribed minimum sanitary and safety requirements related to the design, operation, and maintenance of body-piercing salons and temporary establishments.
  • Certification of Environmental Health Professional
    Ensures that department staff that are assigned the responsibility to perform environmental health evaluations for food hygiene facilities and onsite sewage disposal systems are knowledgeable in their specific areas of practice and will conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Food Hygiene
    Ensures food establishments regulated by the Department of Health are designed, built, equipped and operated in a safe and sanitary manner;
  • Group Care Facilities
    Ensures group care facilities in the state meet minimum health and safety standards. Examples of group care facilities include schools, foster homes, assisted living facilities and other residential facilities.
  • Internship in Environmental Health
    The Department of Health sponsors certain internship projects.
  • Migrant Labor Camps
    Ensures that migrant labor camps in the state provide structurally sound housing with adequate space, heating and ventilation, are sanitary and have adequate water and sewage disposal systems;
  • Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Parks Ensures that visitors to parks and camps are provided with safe drinking water, proper sewage disposal, and adequate sanitary facilities and conditions.
  • Tanning Facilities
    Reduces the risk of disease and injury to people who use tanning devices at tanning facilities in the state through plan review, inspection, consultation and complaint investigation.

    Information about these procedures and upcoming requirements.
