All files are in the Portable Document Format (pdf) and are less than 5 mb in size, unless otherwise noted.

An alternative repair method is a way to repair a failing system without drainfield addition or replacement. The Department has allowed some alternative repair methods to be incorporated in new and modification construction permits, when the applicant requests them. This page refers to the applicable standards and provides a list of alternative repair methods to which the Department has issued a letter of non-objection.

The Department's acceptance of an alternative repair product or method is not an endorsement or approval with respect to the benefit, effectiveness, or performance of the product or method. The Florida Department of Health assumes no liability for any promise, guarantee or expectation from the purchase or use of any alternative repair product or method. The department reserves the right to withdraw acceptance if the product or method is modified after evaluation by the department or subsequently found not to be in compliance with applicable law or rule.

The language regarding alternative repair methods are in Chapter 64E-6.015(3), F.A.C.

Where the absorption surface of the drainfield is within 6 inches of the wet season high water table, an alternative repair method shall not be used, per 64E-6.015(4), F.A.C.

If any chemical compounds other than air will be introduced into the system, such products must be identified on the permit application, and concentration, quantity and method of introduction must be specified. The products must meet the standards of 64E-6.0151, F.A.C.

The following is a list of septic system alternative repair methods that have been evaluated and have received a non-objection letter from the Department.
