FAQs

What is Carbon Monoxide?

What are the major sources of CO?

What are the symptoms of CO poisoning?

How do I prevent CO poisoning?

...more

Every year more than 500 Americans die from accidental exposure to carbon monoxide and thousands more across the U.S. require emergency medical care for non-fatal carbon monoxide poisoning.

Mortality and morbidity from acute, unintentional, non-fire-related CO poisoning is a substantial public health problem in the United States, where CO intoxication is the most common cause of unintentional poisoning.   At the current time, the Florida EPHT program has two types of data are available (deaths and injuries).
