gas tank Disinfection equipment must maintain a free available chlorine level between 0.2 mg/L and 4.0 mg/L or a maximum total chlorine residual concentration of 5.0 mg/L throughout the entire system.

If the system is disinfected using a chlorine chemical treatment, the supplier must test the chlorine residual level daily using N,N-Diethyl -p-Phenylenediamine (DPD) or a portable spectrophotometer that is kept on-site. The results of each day’s test must be posted in a log book that is kept on the premises.

If the department has approved an alternative to chlorine disinfection, it will also designate testing procedures.

If continuous disinfection is required for a LU community system and a chemical disinfectant is used, the system must be serviced weekly by a Florida State-certified water treatment plant operator.
