The Department of Health is responsible for reviewing plans and
issuing new pool construction permits. Thirteen County Health
Departments have been delegated the authority to review plans and issue
permits: Broward, Collier, Miami-Dade, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Lee,
Manatee, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, and Volusia.
Several of these engineering CHDs process permits for pools in
neighboring counties: Escambia for Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay,
Washington and Holmes. Polk for Highlands and Sumter. Lee
for Charlotte. Volusia for Flagler. The remaining 40 counties
are processed by either the Tallahassee (850-245-4240) or Orlando
(407-317-7172) regional engineering office.
