FL 8-11     Eliminate elevated blood lead levels in children
  • Target: Zero percent of children less than 72 months found positive with elevated blood levels exceeding 10 ėg/dL
  • Baseline: 1263 or 3.4 % of children less than 72 months old who were screened were found to be positive in 1999
Data Source:
Florida Department of Health Bureau of Environmental Epidemiology. Note: Only 2.3 percent of all 0 to 7-year-olds were screened. Screening is targeted in known high-risk areas. Efforts are underway to increase the number screened.

  • Baseline: 4.4% of children aged 1 to 6 years had blood lead levels exceeding 10 ėg/dL during 1991-94
