FDENS Basic User Tutorial Now Available
FDENS Earns Local and State Honors
The Florida Department of Health’s Emergency Notification System, FDENS, recently earned five awards for its contributions to the alerting and notification needs of the agency.
In March, FDENS garnered three Davis Productivity Awards from Florida Tax Watch. Receiving team honors for improving public health emergency alerting and notification were Rhonda White, Director of Public Health Preparedness; David Stokes, Bureau Chief of Information Technology; Kent Dazey, Project Manager Consultant; Beverly Elliott, Health Alert Network Coordinator; and Margo Blake, Grants Coordinator. Honors for developing alternative training methods went to the team of Valerie Beynon, Information Coordinator; Beverly Elliott, Health Alert Network Coordinator; Frank Milner, former DOH Video Producer; Donna Earnest, Administrative Assistant III and Barbara Jean Hard, Administrative Assistant. Beverly Elliott also won an individual award for her work in implementing the Agency’s emergency notification system.
The team of Beverly Elliott, Valerie Beynon and Frank Milner also won an Image Award and Judges’ Award from the Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association. The awards were presented in the Audio/Visual Tools of Public Relations: Film or Video-Internal category for their work on the FDENS Overview DVD.
FDENS is a CDC mandated web-based emergency notification system that meets PHIN compliance. DOH and public health partners can participate in the system which offers high, medium, and low priority level alerting, multi-device notification, and message confirmation and retrieval capabilities.
