Department of Health Announces Workgroup on Mammogram Accessibility.
TALLAHASSEE - Florida Department of Health (DOH) Secretary John O.
Agwunobi, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., today announced the leadership for the
Workgroup on Mammography Accessibility. The workgroup was created in
Senate Bill 2306 and signed into law by Governor Bush in May. Agwunobi
appointed Deputy Secretary Nancy Humbert, State Womens Health Officer,
to serve as chair of the workgroup. Other appointments were made by
Governor Jeb Bush, Senate President James E. "Jim" King, Jr., and
Speaker of the House of Representatives Johnnie Byrd. Karen Eaton,
Director of the Office of Public Health Nursing, will serve as the
Executive Director for the workgroup and will coordinate meetings. The
first meeting of the Workgroup on Mammography Accessibility will be held
on August 5, 2004 in Orlando.

Department of
Health Joins Governor for Mammogram Bill Signing.
TALLAHASSEE Florida Department of Health (DOH) Deputy State Health
Officer S. Elizabeth Ford, M.D., M.B.A., joined Florida Governor Jeb
Bush at the Capitol for the signing of Senate Bill 2306an act relating
to radiologists performing mammograms. The act will create a 13 member
Workgroup on Mammography Accessibility. The group will study the
availability of mammogram services offered on the local level in
Florida, the accessibility of these services to the public, and the
quality of care given to patients, with emphasis on wait times.
