Advancing the quality and performance of public health departments

Nearly a decade in the making, National Voluntary Public Health Accreditation is now on the horizon! Scheduled for nationwide roll-out in 2011, national accreditation is a key strategy for strengthening the public health infrastructure in our country. The goal of the accreditation program is to improve and protect the health of every community by advancing the quality and performance of public health departments.

Participating in the accreditation process will provide the Department of Health (DOH) with valuable, measurable feedback on our strengths and areas for improvement. This data will help drive our efforts to continuously improve the performance of the department - at both the state and local levels - and allow us to more effectively meet the needs of those we serve.
