ADR Act of 1990: Charges each federal agency with adopting a policy to address the use of alternative dispute resolution.

Federal Executive Order: Order issued, October 23, 1991, by former president George H. W. Bush to promote just and efficient government litigation in the United States by instituting alternative means of resolving disputes.

Bullet Banking (47K PDF): Law enacted affecting federal financial institutions that required each to design and implement a pilot program for the use of alternative dispute resolution.
Bullet Courts (47K PDF): Law stating that each United States district court is vested with the authority to use ADR in all civil actions and that the courts shall devise and implement their own ADR programs, and to promote and encourage the use of ADR in its own district.
Bullet General ADR (44K PDF): Establishes the guidelines, in law, by which federal agencies may use neutrals in a dispute resolution proceeding. Also vests authority with the President to create an agency or establish an interagency committee to encourage and facilitate the use of ADR among all federal agencies.
