For Initial Licensure

Licensees initially licensed within the biennium are exempt from the continuing education (CE) requirements for renewal with the exception of:

  • Two (2) hour course relating to prevention of medical errors
  • One (1) hour of HIV/AIDS.

For Renewal of License Following Your First Biennium

Licensees are required to complete 24 hours of CE each biennium:

  • One (1) hour of Florida laws and rules CE
    Note: Laws and Rules may be obtained by attending a board meeting which disciplinary hearings are conducted
  • Two (2) hour course relating to prevention of medical errors
  • One (1) hour of HIV/AIDS CE
  • For Licenses with a Specialty - one (1) contact hour CE in each of the specialty categories in which you are licensed
    Note: Licensees adding a specialty category to existing license are exempt from the one (1) contact hour CE in that specialty category for that biennium
  • For Director/Supervisor Licensees - one (1) hour in administration and supervision CE
    Note: Licensees upgrading to a Director/Supervisor are exempt from the one (1) contact hour CE in administration and supervision for that biennium
  • 20 hours in general CE
