Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Current licenses will expire at midnight, Eastern Time, March 31, 2013
The process of renewing a license may take two to three weeks. Initiating contact to confirm the receipt of fees or the status of your license prior to this time will not expedite the renewal process.
Delinquent licenses that expired on March 31, 2011 become null and void on April 1, 2013.
ALL CSW/MFT/MHC licensees and registered intern licenses will expire on March 31, 2015. Renewal notice postcards will be mailed in December 2014. It is the licensees/registered interns responsibility to renew their license whether they receive the renewal notice or not. You may renew your license on-line beginning December 2014. To keep your license out of delinquent status, on-line renewals must be completed by midnight March 31, 2015. Renewals that are mailed must be post-marked by midnight March 31, 2015.
Registered Intern Renewal Information
There are no continuing education renewal requirements for registered interns. If you have completed the minimum requirement of supervised experience as a registered intern but have not completed the requirements for licensure, please review the following rule.
64B4-3.008 Supervision Required Until Licensure.
An applicant who practices clinical social work, marriage and family therapy and/or mental health counseling must continue in "supervision" as defined in Rule 64B4-2.002, F.A.C., and use the term "registered clinical social work intern, registered marriage and family therapy intern, or registered mental health counseling intern" until he or she is in receipt of a license to practice the profession for which he or she has applied or a letter from the Department stating he or she is licensed, even if the two (2) year post-masters supervision requirement has been satisfied.
