Dietitian/Nutritionist

Possess a baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate degree with a major
course of study in human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or
food management, or an equivalent major course of study from an
accredited school or program at the time of graduation.

Has completed a pre-professional experience component of not less than
900 hours of planned and continuous supervised practice in dietetics and
nutrition or has education or experience determined to be equivalent by
the Council.

How to Apply for Licensure:
The application package (pdf - 160kb) contains additional information regarding the application, the fees, laws and rules and other required documentation, including the 900-hour form.

Submit a completed application, fees, forms and a current photograph
to the council office.

No application will be reviewed without payment of all fees.

Information on requesting special testing accommodations due to ADA or
religious conflict issues is available.

Submit proof of graduation -
Applicants must notify their school to official send transcripts that include
degree and date conferred to the council office.

Submit proof of 900 hours of planned and continuous supervised
practice (pdf - 121kb) in dietetics and nutrition. (Reference Rule 64B8-42.002, F.A.C.)
Documentation should include original letters from supervisors with
official signatures documenting the appropriate number of hours and must
include wording that specifies that the requirements of the
above-referenced rule have been met.

Verification of Licensure form required:
Regardless of current status, to practice dietetics or nutrition or any
health related profession in any state, U.S. territory, including
Florida, or foreign country.

Verification for all present and past employment for three (3) years
relative to dietetics and nutrition.
Special note: Foreign graduates must provide proof of all of the above.
The Council will determine if education and experience is equivalent.
Foreign graduates must have their education evaluated by
certified credentials evaluation service.
Once you have been approved to sit for examination, your name will be
submitted to CDR for scheduling. For additional exam information and

Please note: Temporary permits cannot be issued without the original
signature of the supervisor on the form provided in the application
package and payment of the $50 temporary permit fee. Temporary permits
cannot be issued to examination candidates that are not scheduled for
exam through the State of Florida. Only one temporary permit will
be issued to first time candidates only.
Note: All initial applicants are required to complete three (3) hours of
HIV/AIDS and two (2) hours on the prevention of medical errors. These
courses may be home study courses.
