Applications must be received, reviewed and in a "COMPLETE" status by the application deadline date (this is 120 days prior to the examination date) in order to be considered for a particular examination date. "COMPLETE" means that your application is not missing any required documents or fees, you have not answered any questions incorrectly and your application does not contain any blank fields. To ensure that your application will have enough time to be processed, it is a good idea to postmark your application at least thirty days prior to each deadline. The examination deadlines can be located at the above link in blue, labeled "Examination Dates." The only way to ensure that you are scheduled for an exam is that you have received a letter from our office stating so. If you feel that you should have received a letter, please contact our office immediately.
Deficiencies: It is important to remember that any applications that are deficient will not be scheduled for an exam until you have contacted the council office and corrected all mistakes. "Deficient" or "incomplete" means that your application is missing one or more of the following: fees, proof of electrolysis training, proof of date of birth, 2 hour prevention of medical errors course, a high school or college transcript or diploma (and a translation if in a foreign language), a mailing address and practice location, verification of licensure in another jurisdiction OR if a question is answered incorrectly or a field is left blank.
Once the department receives your application, the fees are processed in another portion of our division, and may take 3-5 days to actually be received in the Electrolysis council office. Florida law allows 30 days from the date of receipt (in the Electrolysis council office) of your application to notify you of your status. You will be notified in writing and electronic email (please check your SPAM folders as some mail is occasionally misdirected) if any additional documentation is required to complete your application.
The Chairperson of the Council can recommend that an applicant appear before the board when his or her application is considered. This recommendation is generally based on affirmative answers on the application relating to substance abuse, malpractice, criminal charges, or other issues of concern. In such cases, it is absolutely critical that the application be submitted and completed as far in advance as possible of the candidate’s target exam date or employment date.
The council office has no information on the whereabouts of the exam until 2-4 weeks prior.
We are notified the same time as the applicants. You will receive a bulletin from the vendor
with this information; we do not issue this information.
Refunds: Refunds or transfer of funds to a future examination may be given to those who
cancel or reschedule their exam fifteen (15) business days prior to the exam date. Any
cancellations or reschedules after the fifteen (15) business day period will not be allotted a
refund or transfer of fees and must pay the full exam fee if they desire to sit for the exam in
the future.
Exam Results: Examination results are mailed by the exam vendor approximately six (6) weeks after the date of examination to your address on file with the Council office; we will not have your scores processed until eight weeks after the exam. Results will not be given out; you will receive a letter in the mail from our office advising you of the status of your application for licensure.
