
For Initial Renewal
All EMTs and Paramedics initially licensed within the biennium are exempt from the continuing education (CE) requirements for renewal with the exception of:
- Two (2) hour course HIV/AIDS update
- Current CPR card
Per 64J-1.008(2)(a) and 64J-1.009(2)(a), F.A.C., the department will accept affirmation of a licensed EMS provider's medical director, or a certificate of completion of refresher training from a department approved continuing education provider as proof of compliance with the renewal requirements.
For Renewal of License Following Your First Biennium
All EMTs and Paramedics must complete:
- 30 hours of CE (2 hours of which must be in pediatric emergencies)
- Two (2) hour course HIV/AIDS
- For EMTs ONLY, a current CPR card
- For Paramedics ONLY, a current ACLS card
EMTs and Paramedics can fulfill their CE requirements through:
- A department approved continuing education provider
- Per 64J-1.008(2)(a) and 64J-1.009(2)(a), F.A.C., the department will accept affirmation of a licensed EMS provider's medical director, or a certificate of completion of refresher training from a department approved continuing education provider as proof of compliance with the renewal requirements.
