Continuing Education
 CE Course and Tracking Information. Continuing education information for licensees and CE providers


For Initial Licensure

Licensees are required to submit proof of completion of the following continuing education (CE) upon initial licensure:

  • Two (2) hours relating to prevention of medical errors
  • Two (2) hours of HIV/AIDS

For Initial Licensure Renewal

Licensees initially licensed in the second year of the biennium are exempt from the CE requirements for renewal with the exception of:

  • Two (2) hour course relating to prevention of medical errors

Licensees initially licensed in the first half of the biennium must complete the 20 hours of approved CE outlined below.

For Renewal of License Following Your Initial Renewal

Every licensee must complete 20 hours of approved CE within the biennium for which they are claimed. The requirements are:

  • Two (2) hour course relating to prevention of medical errors
  • One (1) hour of HIV/AIDS
  • One (1) hour of Florida Laws and Rules governing the Licensed Midwifery Act
  • Two (2) hours of Domestic Violence as part of every third biennium renewal (or every six years)

Five (5) of the clinical hours per biennium may be done by videocassette courses and pro bono services
All hours must be clinically related
