If a PDF file fails to download, shows up blank, or freezes your internet browser, the file was most likely corrupted during the download process. To correct the problem, you will need to first clear your browser's cache, then close and restart the browser to continue downloading the document. If the cache is not cleared the cached version of the document, which is likely damaged, will still appear. Please use the following instructions to correct the issue.
Internet Explorer 7
From the File Menu of the browser window, select the Tools menu, and click on "Internet Options".
The "Internet Options" box will appear.
From the "Internet Options" menu, under the "Browsing History" section, click the button that says "Delete..."
The "Delete Browsing History" menu will appear.
From the "Delete Browsing History" menu, you will need to delete each of the following categories:
- Delete Files...
- Delete cookies...
- Delete history...
Deleting each of these categories may take up to 5 minutes each to complete, so be patient and do not close the browser while these files are deleting.
After all of the files have been deleted, press "OK", and then close all browser windows. Restart Internet Explorer and attempt to download the file again.
For older versions of Internet Explorer
From the File Menu of the browser window, select the Tools menu, and click on "Internet Options".
The "Internet Options" box will appear.
From the "Internet Options" menu, menu, you will need to delete each of the following categories under the "Temporary Internet files" section:
- Delete Cookies...
- Delete Files...
Deleting each of these categories may take up to 5 minutes each to complete, so be patient and do not close the browser while these files are deleting.
After all of the files have been deleted, press "OK", and then close all browser windows. Restart Internet Explorer and attempt to download the file again.
Mozilla Firefox 3.5
From the File Menu of the browser window, select the Tools menu, and click on "Clear Recent History".
The Clear Recent History box will appear.
Click on the "Details" button to expand the drop down list.
Make sure the following items are selected:
- Cookies
- Cache
Also, from the "Time range to clear" drop down menu, select the appropriate time range you have been trying to access the PDF document.
Click the "Clear Now" button.
The cache and cookies should now have been cleared, and you should not have to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
Older versions of Firefox
From the File Menu of the browser window, select the Tools menu, and click on "Clear Private Data".
The "Clear Private Data" box will appear.
Make sure the following items are selected:
- Cookies
- Cache
Click the "Clear Private Data Now" button.
The cache and cookies should now have been cleared, and you should not have to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
