Friday, Sept. 30th is Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day
The Florida Department of Health Office of Minority Health invites organizations, individuals and advocates to join their efforts to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes by supporting Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day on Friday, September 30th.
If your organization is hosting an event for this observance to provide medical services and/or health screenings to hard-to-reach and minority populations in your community, please let the Office of Minority Health know about your event by contacting Cheryl Graham at MinorityHealthLiaison@doh.state.fl.us.

2010 Annual Report of the Florida Officer of Women's Health Strategy
The Florida Department of Health Women's Health Program provided the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a report with policy recommendations, major accomplishments and an overview of the Program's outreach efforts during 2010. A brief background on
Women's Health in Florida.....
In 2004, Florida passed legislation establishing the Department of Health Officer of Women's Health Strategy with the charge to direct public policy to address the distinct health needs of women across the life span. On September 1, 2011, the Women's Health Program within the Department of Health was eliminated and its key activities were absorbed by other programs within the Department. This action was part of the Department's implementation of House Bill 5311.

The law also specifies that an Officer of Women's Health Strategy chairs the Interagency Committee on Women's Health and oversees the work outlined in F.S. 381.04015. This committee is charged with other tasks as well that are outlined in the legislation, including coordinating a Governor's statewide conference on women's health.
